I am made of creative solutions, overtime, and playing to win. I am made of computer screens, and presentations, and solving problems. I am made of $90 paycheques and cross-fit training. I am made of doing the right things right and never compromising.
Marie has been working with computers since the early 90s. Through the evolution of DOS to Windows 3.1, she found a passion in programming. From writing text based games to choreographing her own midi music with GWBasic, her love of programming only grew. Spending 3 years in Computer Science throughout High School, Marie ventured into many different languages and programming methodologies like COBOL, Assembly, and VBasic.
With the introduction to HTML and graphic design in Marie’s portfolio in 1995, the idea of building an end-to-end solution ignited a new path to discover. Thus began a continuous passion to web development. From designing websites on paper to building them through notepad and paint, her first website was published to the world wide web in 1996.
Looking for a new challenge, Marie began expanding into the world of databases and PHP programming by self-directed learning. By hosting her own mySQL and Apache Web Server she began to develop web interface programs. Two of her favorite being a Call Logging Database System and a complete Inventory Database System that utilized the integration of HTML, PHP, CSS, and mySQL.
A lot of her work roles had her learning new languages to fit the business need. These included; Java, C++, ASP.net, ActionScript, Freeze, Bash, Batch, and Python to name a few.
Since then, Marie has been developing, building, and modifying websites for friends, family, and clients alike. Some of her more recent projects:
Even in her younger years, Marie has been perpetually curious about how the world works around her. Even as a child her parents were often hesitant to provide her new toys as they would soon find them carefully taken apart so that each component could be examined and explored. From the Rubix © cube separated into individual cubes to the etch-a-sketch now carefully separated to expose the magnets inside; this love for seeking to understand how things worked became instilled in her everyday life. As Marie began to venture into the world of computers in the early 90s, she began to learn how they work from a technical stand point. Learning about hardware interrupts, IRQs, and the difference between serial, SCSI and parallel components, she took her knowledge and quickly became adapt in troubleshooting and fixing many simple hardware issues.
Recognized by her high school as a computer aficionado, she assumed the role as a junior systems administrator; often getting called from class to come fix some errant problem or another. Enthusiastic about the new technology being released, Marie was constantly rebuilding her own personal computer with the latest technology. If it wasn’t her own pc system she was tinkering with; it was building custom computers for her friends and family.
Marie certified her knowledge of hardware with CompTIA’s A+ certification in in home depot specialization in 2007 to further advance her desire to work professionally in the computer repair business. Her work roles often had her dismantling over 100s of computers and laptops to fix whatever issue that may be ailing them. Her unique understanding of software and hardware enabled her to be one of the most efficient and insightful computer technicians on any floor. If you couldn’t figure it out, you give it to Marie.
Marie’s desire to fix, create, and expand knew no bounds and often found her fearlessly taking on any challenging electronic and sometimes mechanical device. Everything from fixing an inverter in a TV display to dismantling a dryer to fix the rotor.
No problem too big and no challenge unworthy.
Today you will find Marie reaching beyond just hardware to understand the mechanics of everything around her. Engineering solutions to problems that others have yet to recognize. Her unique ability to seek gaps and paths before they happen have led to the success of many projects under Marie’s care in her recent and current careers.
Marie has always had an innate ability to foresee the needs of others before they ask. This has enabled her to strive in any customer service role; both outward and inward facing. Her dedication to the client has netted many customer service awards through multiple mediums of communication; e-mail, phone, and face-to-face.
As a key driver of change for higher accuracy and efficiency, Marie embraces a growth mindset and constantly seeks to improve the processes around her. She outlines and implements basic steps toward change in any roles she adopts. Marie fosters innovation and creative thinking with all problem statements and demonstrates this in her work with other teams to assist in enabling new ideas. Marie continually challenges the status quo for quality and efficiently without compromising integrity.
Marie enjoys empowering others with her knowledge and finds herself in the role of trainer for many of her assignments. She demonstrates a results orientated approach with her optimistic passion and energy to enable others. She assumes responsibility to ensure a growing environment is enabled with the right tools. Marie takes the lead to train stakeholders, co-workers, and reports by addressing multiple learning styles. Through technical documentation, hands-on learning, and follow up training, her approach is well received and effective in educating those around her. Her dedication to quality in doing the right things right enables others with the same dedication and ethic mindset.
Marie continually grows her skills in communication by focusing on listening and responding with the customer’s best interest. Her desire to integrate new ideas into work environments requires her to clearly communicate mutual intentions, limits, and expectations of how these integrations will work. By collaborating with stakeholders, Marie is able to collect wants and needs that enable this process in an exciting and innovative manner.
Marie continually strives for the highest standards of excellence in every task. Her focus on doing the right things right has led to comprehensive and well documented procedures that can be used in the development of others. Marie is continually seeking ways to learn, develop, and improve the processes she has helped implement and takes pride in a job well done.
